Trigeminal Autonomic Cephalalgias (TAC)

TAC is a relatively new term and encompasses a group of headaches which have some common clinical

features. These include autonomic features, which are on the same side of the headache. The most

important one is called Cluster headache, which will be discussed on the next page.

The other types of TACS include:

  • Paroxysmal hemicranias
  • Short-lasting unilateral neuralgiform headache attacks (SUNCT)
  • Short-lasting unilateral neuralgiform headache attacks with cranial autonomic symptoms (SUNA)
  • Hemicrania continua
